Barbara Miller-Children’s Choice Learning Center Director

Hi!  I am the director here at Children’s Choice Learning Center.  I have been here for 6.5 years and what I love most about this job is watching the children grow and learn.  My most favorite part of each day is all the hugs, kisses and the children proudly showing me something he or she has done.

Jane Hassebrock- Preschool ages 4 and 5

I graduated from Simpson College located in Indianola, Iowa.  I taught in the Des Moines Public School System and later in the Jefferson City Public School system- located in Missouri.  The next time I worked with children was when I was employed with Family Tree in Lexington.  I was placed with a family of three children for 3 years, until the children were in school.  After that I came to Children’s Choice Learning Center, where I have been for 14 years this August.

When I work with each child individually, I first start with the ABC Knowledge Assessment.  Later they proceed to learn “Popcorn Words”.  These words have been provided by the Jessamine County School System.  Advanced students then proceed to the 1,000 Instant Words.  Activities they enjoy include memory games, using tubs with 6 objects each with alphabet letters and blends, using Bingo games of alphabet letters or numbers, alphabet puzzles and alphabet bean bags.
